Looking Smart, Casually

Introduction/Chapter One

Men’s fashion, like other areas of contemporary life, seems to have descended into something approaching anarchy. The 1960s Do your own thing,” movement begat the 1970s Me Generation.  Each decade following has been something of a variation on this theme of individuality, expressing oneself. Much later on, a new attitude of Rebellion took hold as everyday people took a stand against what used to be called the establishment, and now goes by other names. The T-shirt – which is really a part of men’s underwear, stylistically speaking — has become a shirt deriguer for men as well as women, children as well as dogs!

But as often happens, the new becomes old. The refreshing becomes the stale. And so the miasma of now  is evolving into a period of searching, and for the most part, the searching is more honest than before.

And so, this new web log has begun in the hopes that people who are searching will find guidance for how to wear clothes in a Smart, yet stylish, way.  Fashion and style in clothing is an important expression of one’s values. Your blog author hopes the present effort will lead toward solutions which are pleasing to the eye, comfortable to put on, and durable. Thus, onward to success in fashion!
